Ember Meat Room is a one-of-a-kind culinary creation with a menu inspired by the idea of simple and honest cooking over burning coals. Head Chef Michael Broughton has created a menu that accentuates exquisite flavors. Together with his kitchen team, fanning the flames, Michael is working to definitively set the benchmark in this intimate space in the heart of Stellenbosch.   

 Starting in 2021, we’ve hand crafted a unique dining experience using the simplicity of one of man’s earliest discoveries – fire. Drawing on classic recipes to new-age kitchen adventures, each dish reflects our passion for high-quality food presented in a stylish and friendly manner.


It goes without saying good food deserves good wine and we’re proud of our exclusively Stellenbosch wine list representing the entire region from the Helderberg right through to the Simonsberg Mountains.

Working in the food industry for 20+ years award winning chef Michael Broughton heads up the kitchen at Ember and has drawn on his inspiration from around the world. Creatively producing bold flavours using the familiar and the unknown to create a signature of exquisite flavours - all done with fire!
